John A. Zikias - COO

Consumer Package Goods, Category Management: Retail, Food Service

Director and founder of JAZ Enterprises, a consulting firm focused on provide category management and marketing services to the convenience store industry. John has more than twenty five years experience in retail management. He began his career with F.W. Woolworth Company, managing several variety stores. In March of 1982, he moved to Texas and began his convenience store career with 7-Eleven. At 7-Eleven, he held various positions, including Director of Core Products and Manager of Beverage Marketing. Mr. Zikias joined Circle K in April of 1993 as Director of Beverage Marketing. He held several marketing positions within Circle K and Tosco Marketing Company, including Director of Market Development and Vice President of C-Store Marketing. During his tenure as VP of C-Store Marketing, Tosco received several awards for innovation in category management practices.
In 2000, Mr. Zikias was given the responsibility to develop and open a self distribution center in Phoenix, Arizona to service the nearly 300 + Circle K stores in the state. Developing a plan with Core-Mark International, Mr. Zikias and his team opened a full service distribution center that went on line within nine months.

During the purchase of Tosco by Philips Petroleum, Mr. Zikias left to join BP Products North America as Team Leader category management, responsible for developing and implementing category management principles to drive profitable revenue growth. In 2003 Mr. Zikias made the decision to form his own firm JAZ Enterprises focusing on category management and strategic planning. Mr. Zikias has worked with many retailers within the convenience store and petroleum industries in the US, UK, Hong Kong, Singapore, and China to develop and implement category management and marketing programs. Mr. Zikias has been a technical advisor to the NACS R&D board committee for the past two years, a member of the NACSPAC committee for six years, and chairman of the Midwest NACSPAC golf outing. He previously served on the NACS metrics committee.
